Experts Believe Kate Middleton Has Faced Extreme Amounts of Stress and Anxiety in Recent Months

When Kate Middleton – Catherine, Princess of Wales – and Prince William – William, Prince of Wales – moved their family from Kensington Palace in London to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor a few months ago, they were hoping to be met with a relaxing and settling transition.

It was a tough move, but things got more difficult a few days later – when Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmother, passed away. It was a trying time for the family and those that have followed her Late Majesty during her record-breaking 70-year reign.

She passed away on September 8th, which was already a chaotic day for Kate and William. All three of their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were entering their first day at their new school that very day, which only added to the stress and anxiety

Katie Nicholl, a royal correspondent for Vanity Fair, recently shared her opinion on how the past few months have gone for Kate Middleton and her family. According to Nicholl, the Princess of Wales is undergoing a ‘very difficult time’ that has featured “a fair bit of stress and anxiety.”

“They’ve said that themselves…that this hasn’t been the settling period that they had hoped for,” said Nicholl, adding that the family originally made the move to live a more “under the radar” lifestyle. Of course, no one could have expected the Queen would have died,” she added.

The day after learning of his grandmother’s death, Prince William officially became heir to the throne as he gained the title William, Prince of Wales. He replaces his father, who gave up the title when he took the throne. Likewise, Kate gained the title Catherine, Princess of Wales.

After spending a lot of the past month making public appearances, Kate Middleton and Prince William have largely stayed out of the light recently while they enjoyed time with their children – who were on fall break from school. Now that they’re back in school, it’s back to the daily grind.

Kate Middleton and Prince William Intend to Break the ‘Heir and Spare’ Tradition

With King Charles III being the oldest person ever to be named King – he’s 73 years old – it’s safe to assume that Prince William will one day be King. It’s also safe to assume that the same can be said about William and Kate’s first son, Prince George. Of course, only time will tell.

In decades past, the heir to the throne spent most of their life preparing for the throne – while their siblings spent their entire life in the heir’s shadow. This concept has been dubbed “the heir and a spare” by many throughout history, but it’s something Kate and William want to challenge.

They fully intend to allow their children to ‘find their purpose and pursue those things,’ according to one royal expert. It’s something we haven’t really seen with previous heirs to the throne and while Prince Harry has managed to step away from that life, it was without Royal support.

In fact, Prince Harry is about to speak out about the life he walked away from and why in his newest memoir – which he titled Spare, a nod to the ‘heir and spare’ analogy. The book is set to be released on January 10 and will likely have several groundbreaking discoveries included in it.

The past few months have been far from the usual inside the Royal Family. The death of Queen Elizabeth II came without much warning, immediately changing the lives of everyone involved. While this might be a difficult time for the family, it’s the start of something new in the UK.
