Kellan and Brittany Lutz Announce They Are Pregnant with Surprise ‘Promise’ Baby Six Months After the Stillbirth of Their First Child

Six months after revealing that he and his wife Brittany Lutz lost their baby girl, who was stillborn at 6.5 months, Kellan Lutz is revealing they are pregnant with what they are calling a promise baby. The couple sneakily shared the big news while Brittany was sharing her daily devotional with her followers.

After talking about her relationship with God and the way in which she asks for blessings and listens to God’s will, both Brittany and Kellan shared the big news. After thanking Kellan and their beloved dog for being her special guests, she said, “There’s one more special guest. There’s a tiny little bump. Yay! You guys, a little promise baby. This is not a drill, this is not a throwback. This is another promise being fulfilled.”

“We’re pregnant again,” Kellan added, “If you guys don’t know. We’re pregnant.”

As Brittany shared, this pregnancy was a surprise. Just like it was a surprise to lose their baby girl at the beginning. “That was tough. And still is. I mean, there’s still hard moments.”

Today’s devotion talked about waiting with patient expectation. So many of us are waiting on things to happen or unfold in our lives. And in the “in between” it feels as though there are only two options: 1) the dreaded “waiting game” where you just sit around, and 2) the one we should NEVER do (but often do!), get impatient and take matters into our own hands and “make it happen.” ⁣ ⁣ But today I realized there’s a 3rd option: ACTIVE PATIENCE. Not rushing things, not taking things into our hands, and not sitting around with our thoughts counting the days that pass by, but rather actively PREPARING for that which we’re being patient for. ⁣ ⁣ Patiently waiting on a Godly husband? ⁣ Prepare for him by keeping busy and getting so close to God that you can’t even be slightly distracted when the wrong ones come along. ⁣ ⁣ Patiently waiting for a baby? (Like me!)⁣ Prepare for that child by eating well and exercising and getting your whole being strong so you have enough to give your little baby without falling apart. ⁣ ⁣ Patiently waiting on buying your first home? ⁣ Prepare for that by casting visions of what you want it to look like (hello Pinterest!) as well as making sure you’re being responsible with finances. ⁣ ⁣ Basically, whatever you’re patiently waiting on God for, wait with PURPOSE. Wait with INTENTION. Wait with EXPECTATION for what God is going to do. So that when He comes through and does the thing, you’ll be prepared and can FULLY embrace and enjoy it!

But even though she’s been through a lot with the death of their first child, Brittany admitted that she’s still looking forward to sharing this journey with their fans as well. “We don’t know what the future holds for my body physically, and going forward. And yeah, here we are with another little promise.”

The clearly excited couple also thanked their family, friends, and fans for all their support and love over the last six months. While Kellan and Brittany haven’t gone into specifics about what happened during their first pregnancy, the mom-to-be has opened up about some of the struggles she has gone through.

In one Instagram post, Brittany writes, in part, “No two people are alike. God rejoices in diversity, & we should too. ⁣
I believe the same way the pain and damage in my physical body is healing without my doing anything, Jesus is doing that when I invite Him into my broken-hearted situations. Losing my daughter and almost losing my life? I can’t make myself get over that pain. I can’t force my emotions & heart to be whole again. But simply by inviting Him into the situation, I have already felt my heart healing unexplainably.”

When one chapter ends, another often begins. Congratulations, Brittany and Kellan.
