Country stars Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have something sweet to sing about! The musical couple is expecting their first child together, they announced on Instagram last week.
“The irony is just too rich that after a year of living in the ‘GIRL’ headspace, the universe would give us a baby boy to even things out. See you in 2020, little one.”
For context, Morris recently released an album titled Girl.
In another Instagram caption, Morris wrote, “Got another Aries in the mix,” referring to her likely due date (March 21 – April 19). “Uh oh,” she added.
The couple “are really really excited to celebrate with a babymoon at the beginning of next year once her tour schedule calms down,” a source told People. “They are buying lots of baby clothes.”
Hurd also shared the exciting news on Instagram, saying, “MY BOYS CAN SWIM. BABY BOY HURD 2020! Look at her…cannot believe this life with this girl. Also, thank you George Constanza for this caption that I’ve been sitting on my entire life…”
Fans posted congratulatory messages on Morris’ feed, including sweet notes from Jessie James Decker, Lea Michele and LeAnn Rimes.
The couple, who met in 2013 began dating after they co-wrote a song for Tim McGraw, recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. The couple tied the knot in March 2018 in Nashville, TN. The musical duo have written songs about each other, including “Diamonds or Twine” and “Love in a Bar.”
Over the last couple of years, Morris’ profile in the music industry has risen considerably. She scored a massive hit as the vocalist on “The Middle,” which reached the upper echelons of the Billboard music charts. “The Bones,” from her album Girl, is also starting to take off on streaming and radio.
Morris also helped launch The Highwomen, a country supergroup also featuring Brandi Carlisle, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby. In addition to making beautiful country music, the group hopes to make strides in improving country music’s relationship with its women artists, who are often ignored, neglected, and/or demeaned.
Congratulations on the first-time parents-to-be! Wishing them both the best of luck on their journey to parenthood and beyond!
When I’m not hanging out with my three-year-old and husband in Brooklyn, I’m busy writing stories for Mamas Uncut and managing PR + Marketing for Magnolia Bakery, based in New York City. On weekends, you can usually find me at a local park or playground pushing my daughter on the swings, “researching” the best almond croissants in Park Slope or launching into impromptu family dance parties at home, the sidewalk or, every once in awhile, a restaurant bathroom. I’m still trying to master the whole parenting thing, but I have learned that copious amounts of coffee, humor and humility are involved on a daily basis.
Mamas Uncut is the place for moms online. We cover the latest news around motherhood and parenting, plus entertainment news as well – all with a mom-focused twist. Looking for parenting advice? We have plenty of it, all for moms, from moms. Our mission is focused solely on empowering moms and moms-to-be with the knowledge and answers they’re looking for.
