Mom Gets One of Her Twins a ‘Medical Tattoo’ After MIL Mix-Up Sent One to Hospital

We cannot imagine how challenging it must be to raise twins, especially when there are specific medical needs involved. One mama of twin boys made a controversial decision, causing drama amongst her family members, and took to Reddit to vent her frustration.

The mom of newborn twins posted in the “Am I The A**hole” (AITA) section of Reddit to discuss the difficulties she has faced when it comes to caring for her twins.

She begins by explaining that one of the baby boys, Jake, has a medical condition. “Without going into detail, requires a shot once a week,” she explained, adding, “once he is older he can take pills.”

When the new mom went back to work, her mother-in-law began caring for the twins. Everything was fine until her MIL accidentally gave the injection to Adam, the wrong baby.

“She immediately noticed her mistake called 911 and they were transferred to hospital,” she writes. “By the time I got there Adam had been given the reversal agent and they were both happily sipping on juice loving the attention.”

Luckily, the baby was ultimately fine. The mom’s doctor recommended a medical tattoo, the size of a freckle, for Jake so that this wouldn’t happen again.

Unfortunately, her MIL was not pleased with this decision. “Once I explain to others and they fail to find it they understand but they still think I went to far in tattooing my child and altering their body. I believe I took the necessary precautions recommended by the doctor and the tattoo will fade with sun exposure and as he grows. By the time he’s 5 it probably won’t even be visible or it’ll just look like a faded freckle,” she explained.
