Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is isolated but in “good health.” The Prince and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are staying at Birkhall, a 50,000-acre Balmoral estate in Scotland.
A spokesperson from Clarence House confirmed the news and released a statement.
“The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”
“The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland,” the statement continued. “The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.”
The Prince of Wales attends many engagements and functions and it’s not clear where he became infected.
Clarence House remarked, “It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

Charles and Camilla are spending isolation in one of the Prince’s favorite estates, Birkhall. The estate was gifted to the Prince by his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
The Prince is the first member of the British Royal family to be diagnosed with the quickly spreading disease. However, many members of the family have voiced concern about the virus and its widespread impact on the UK and abroad.
Prince William was one member who spoke out about coronavirus just last week.
