Sixteen days after actress Shay Mitchell announced that she gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl, the new mom shared her first photo of her baby girl along with the name that she and boyfriend, Matte Babel, chose for their new bundle of joy.
On October 20, Mitchell took to Instagram to let the world know her daughter had made her way into the world and that she’s “never letting go.” However, that’s about all she said, publicly that is, until now.

After hitting back at mom-shamers who slammed her for going to rapper Drake‘s birthday party sometime after giving birth, Mitchell took to Instagram again, this time to share a little bit more detail about her and Babel’s little girl.
What we know now is that their daughter’s name is Atlas Noa, she has beautiful dark hair, the cutest little nose, and Mitchell is completely infatuated with her. “In my 32 years of life I thought I had seen a lot of places, experienced a lot of things, met a lot of people and felt love…then came you.”
The proud new mom continued, “Truth is I had no idea I was capable of loving anything like this before you arrived. You wonder if that’s just something people say, but it’s as if the chemical makeup of my entire body and soul changed the minute we met.”
“I wake up each day (and also every 2-3 hours 😉 still in awe that you are mine, and I am yours. I’m still learning about you and I’ll never grow old of watching you slowly wake up, catch a glimpse of me or your dad and focus intently, almost as if to say ‘I know you.'”
Mitchell went on to let Atlas know that she’ll always be her mama’s leading lady. “Just know, sweet girl – Whatever you choose to do in this world, whoever you choose to love, wherever you choose to go, I will always be your biggest fan. I am already so proud to be your Mama.”
Doesn’t this just make your heart skip a beat? Millions of people liked the first picture of baby Atlas and thousands more couldn’t help but comment on how much they already adore this famous mother-daughter duo.

One of her Pretty Little Liars co-stars, Tyler Blackburn wrote, “Shay this is beyond beautiful. She’s a lucky girl.” And her other, Troian Bellisario added, “This is everything. She is the luckiest to have you as her mother.”
And it seems like Mitchell already has the perfect little man set up for Atlas when they’re older. Fellow Freeform actress Italia Ricci, who only gave birth several months ago to a son, commented under Mitchell’s photos, saying, “Congrats stunner but more importantly if my kid’s hairline improves what are your thoughts on arranged marriage?”
Mitchell replied, “DONE AND DONE,” along with a couple of laughing emojis. And in an interview with Vogue, Mitchell revealed how she and Babel decided on the name Atlas.
“A close friend of ours was listing off names for her daughter that she had had a year and a half ago. Then she said Atlas and I looked at Matte, and he looked at me, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ It’s just the perfect name; from that day, we knew it was going to be Atlas. People would ask us, ‘Do you have a name?’ But we were keeping it hidden. I’m sorry to everybody that I lied to!”
And although the actress and entrepreneur said she wasn’t going to take maternity leave, she told Vogue that after moving her schedule around a bit to really enjoy her first few weeks with Atlas, she was surprised to learn “how much I enjoy the calmness.”
“I find myself being a lot more present, and I’m just looking at her every single day. You reflect on how fast time passes when you’re forced to slow down. The surprising thing is how much I enjoy this calmness.”
It’s hard not to assume that all the hardships Mitchell went through at the beginning of her pregnancy, including dealing with prepartum depression, has all been very worth it.
