The internet has been reeling for several months over the thought of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce together. Dating rumors initially began in July, but have escalated in recent days with sources claiming they’ve been hanging out for several weeks. Of course, Travis and Taylor have remained mum about it.
In an effort to get to the bottom of the rumors, the Thursday Night Football panel decided to take full advantage of their time with Jason Kelce – Travis’ older brother – following his 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately for all the fans at home, Jason didn’t provide any insight into the rumors.
“I’ve seen these rumors. I cannot comment,” Jason replied when Hall of Fame tight end, Tony Gonzalez, asked about the Taylor-Travis dating rumors – he asked on behalf of his 15-year-old daughter, who is a big Taylor Swift fan. He didn’t get the answer he was hoping for, but it was definitely worth a shot, right?
“Ever since Catching Kelce everybody’s been infatuated with Travis’ love life,” Jason Kelce continued – referring to a dating show centered around Travis Kelce in 2016. “I don’t really know what’s going on there, but I know Travis is having fun and we’ll see what happens with whoever he ends up with.”
For those who don’t remember, Catching Kelce premiered in 2016 and saw Travis Kelce date one woman from all 50 states for a shot at love – this was before he was the superstar tight end he is today. Maya Benberry from Kentucky ended up winning, but their relationship was as short-lived as the show was.
Kelce then started dating on-air sports journalist, Kayla Nicole, in 2017. They had an on-again, off-again relationship for five years – breaking up several times before ending the relationship for good in 2022. While he has been enjoying that single life ever since, he has also shown an interest in Taylor Swift.
Swift has had her own ups and downs with relationships over the past few years. She started dating Joe Alwyn in 2016 and they remained together for seven years, but broke things off in April. She then dated Matty Healy for a few weeks in May, but they stopped seeing one another in June – she’s single now.
Where Did the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Rumors Start?
The dating rumors between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift actually have a bit of a funny story behind them. It all began in July when Travis was talking to his brother, Jason Kelce, on their New Heights podcast. He had recently attended Swift’s Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (where the Chiefs play).
Ahead of the concert, Travis made a beaded bracelet that featured his phone number and had plans of giving her the bracelet before the show. Unfortunately, that never happened and he was never given the opportunity to speak with her – something that disappointed him because he was clearly crushing on her.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings, so I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” Kelce said on the podcast – adding that he took it personally. He eventually got his shot, though.
