After quarantining himself in the basement of his home, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo hoped he was taking every precaution necessary to protect his wife and children after testing positive for COVID-19. Sadly, as Cuomo’s wife revealed on Instagram, both she and their 10-year-old son have contracted the virus as well.
On Earth Day 2020, Cristina Cuomo shared a statement to her Instagram account, writing that after she and Chris managed to overcome the virus, she is now caring for their young son, Mario, as well. She also used the 50th anniversary of Earth Day to remember a friend who had recently passed away for reasons that are believed to be unrelated to COVID-19.

“After 10 days of ups and downs, feeling good one-day and terrible the next, I am now working toward getting my son, Mario, through the virus,” the loving mom wrote. “My heart hurts more than my head over his infection. This virus does not discriminate.”

Cristina then continued, “While kids are more resilient, they can suffer the same severity of symptoms. I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins. Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared, I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch. I kept a diary of the past week including my remedies and things that I did to stay sane through it all.” She then shared that diary with her followers.
The list of things she did for herself, Chris, and now Mario is extensive and includes everything from vitamins, to IV drips, to oxygenated herbs. But as Cristina shared on her website, The Purist Online, after a week of testing positive for COVID-19, she then tested negative.
Cristina also said of her old friend, Peter Beard, who, according to The New York Times, was found deceased in a wooded area after having been missing for nearly three weeks. “On this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, show kindness toward our planet and every creature who inhabits it, as the transcendent photographer, adventurer, preservationist, and raconteur Peter Beard advised us,” she wrote.
“My old friend’s recent death offers an eerily timely punctuation on this virus and a reminder that we can’t forget to protect one another, and the animals that roam the Earth. This virus has created a different version of me. My hope is to be stronger, healthier, smarter about the virus at large.”
Chris and Cristina also have two daughters. As of April 23, the couple’s daughters have managed to avoid contracting the virus.
