Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, better known as singer Halsey, released her third album, Manic. She is also opening up about her reproductive and mental health in a new interview with The Guardian.

Halsey, who has bipolar disorder, has always been candid about her life experiences, which has sometimes resulted in backlash from her fans online and off.

“More,” a new song on the latest album, is about the singer’s wish to have a child one day. She was hesitant to release the song after she had experienced such a negative response online after sharing the painful news about a miscarriage in 2018.

Halsey Talks About How She Felt After Experiences Multiple Miscarriages

“It’s the most inadequate I’ve ever felt,” she told the paper about the experience. “Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can’t do the one thing I’m biologically put on this earth to do. Then I have to go onstage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralizing.”

Halsey has previously revealed that she’s had three miscarriages and also has endometriosis, according to Popbuzz. While a guest on The Doctors, she spoke about a particularly traumatic miscarriage she experienced onstage.

“Before I could even really figure out what [being pregnant] meant to me and what that meant for my future, for my career, for my life, my relationship, the next thing I knew I was on stage miscarrying in the middle of my concert,” she said during the interview.

The singer has also opened up about the fact that she suffers from endometriosis, Elle reported, but her latest prognosis is positive, she told The Guardian. She said that motherhood is “looking like something that’s gonna happen for me. That’s a miracle,” the star said.
