Zooey Deschanel Says Jonathan Scott is a ‘Very Highly Qualified’ Stepfather at Baby2Baby Gala

According to Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott, who were recently spotted on the red carpet at Baby2Baby Gala 2022, raising a blended family is going very well. In fact, Deschanel went as far as calling Scott an ‘amazing stepdad’ who is ‘very highly qualified for the job’ in a red carpet interview.

The couple started dating in 2019 after filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke together. At the time, Deschanel had just announced her divorce from Jacob Pechenik – who she shares a seven-year-old daughter (Elsie Otter) and five-year-old son (Charlie Wolf). Before that, she was married to Ben Gibbard.

And while Scott doesn’t have any kids of his own, he has said in the past he would love to have them. In fact, his goal was to have them by the time he was 45 – he’s 44 right now. Scott was married to his longtime girlfriend between 2007 and 2010, and also dated Jacinta Kuznetsov between 2016 and 2018.

At the Baby2Baby Gala, Zooey Deschanel praised how well her partner, Jonathan Scott, gets along with her two children. In light of the praise, Scott dedicated his relationship with the kids to being a magician, former clown, and knowing how to build stuff – three things that help him connect with the children.

“I love it. Just (to) be sitting doing nothing and they’ll come over and just plant a big hug on you or say something really sweet. Like, that came out of left field but I will take it!” said Scott on the red carpet. It appears he’s enjoying the role of stepfather – just wait until he assumes the role of father someday.

After walking the red carpet, Deschanel spent some time on stage with The Office alum Mindy Kaling. The two were hilariously trying to inspire other attendees to donate to the charity and it must’ve worked because the event raised more than $12 million – all of which is going to a wonderful cause.

Baby2Baby is an LA-based charity that ‘provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves.’ Every year, they hold the Baby2Baby Gala, where dozens of celebrities get together and celebrate their accomplishments – and raise money, of course.
